Do you wish you understood finance better, or understood your company’s financial statements better?

Do you struggle with presenting HR initiatives in a way that shows their impact on the company’s bottom line? Join us for a session with Darrell Mullis, author of The Accounting Game, and founder of MetaMark Learning, a Boulder, Colorado training and consulting company, that provides an overview of key principles of business finance and HR’s role in driving business results.

This presentation will define the purpose, structure and relationships of the three financial statements and what each one tells you about a business. Attendees will participate in a brief activity in which they will conduct a simple business transaction to determine how it affects a sample company’s financial position.

We’ll focus on the four elements of the business cycle and the role of executives, managers and employees in each phase of the cycle. Participants will learn to recognize the strategic and tactical roles in an organization and how HR plays a role in each key area.

We’ll also define the key measures of business performance in each phase of the business cycle. This session will give any HR professional a way to track strengths and weaknesses of their company and the results of strategic initiatives. Successful companies must be effective and efficient. After this presentation, you will know how to determine your company’s effectiveness and efficiency and how you influence each.

It's hard to be courageous when your standard operating system is nervous. Ryan Berman, founder of "change consultancy" Courageous, has devoted the last 3 years interviewing many of the most courageous people on the planet including Astronauts, Navy SEALs, Tornado Chasers and bullish business leaders from Apple, Amazon, Dominos, Google and Method.

In business, the companies that win are courageous. The ones who aren't get passed -- or worse, die. 52% of the Fortune 500 since 2000 are now extinct. 9000 brands will revolve on and off the Fortune 500 over the next six decades. Yet, there's a lack of urgency across most organizations to address these callous realities.

Berman shares how any business, being or brand can push through internal paralysis, liberate from their competition and earn a serious 'Return on Courage'.

After this discussion you’ll be able to:

    • Learn “why we need to be courageous now” (The 4 truths of the Business Apocalypse)

    • Utilize a modern day, step-by-step framework to becoming a Courage Brand (P.R.I.C.E.)

    • Begin to identify, address and overcome your companies largest corporate business fears

    • Deliver a ‘Return On Courage’.

Ryan Berman is the founder of Courageous; a special forces change consultancy that develops Courage Brands®. Ryan has helped install courage in the stories and culture at Google, Snapchat, Charity: Water, Major League Baseball, Caesars Entertainment, PUMA, Subway, US Ski & Snowboard and UNICEF. Courage is a learnable skill with training and, in these courage deficient times, a competitive advantage for the leaders who choose to unlock it. His book ‘Return on Courage’ addresses all of this head on. Berman also has an online 8 week Courage Bootcamp and has his own Courage Brand called Sock Problems: a charitable sock company that socks different problems in the world.
