SENIOR DEPARTMENTAL HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER
Senior Departmental Human Resources Officer positions are allocated to various departments throughout the County of San Diego. This class is the advanced journey level professional class of the series. Incumbents are principal advisors to department heads or Human Resources Managers on human resources matters; represent the appointing authority to employees, supervisors, employee representatives, the Civil Service Commission, staff, and supervise both professional and clerical staff.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, independent worker who possesses a solid understanding of Human Resources policies and procedures; can communicate effectively with staff, managers, and individuals outside of the department at all levels of the organization; is well organized and is able to plan and prepare in a thorough fashion; has excellent written communication skills; and has supervisory experience.
A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency, AND, four (4) years of professional human resources experience.
A master's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in any of the fields described above may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience; OR, additional years of experience as described above may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
In order for your education or certification(s) to be considered, you must attach a copy of your degree transcripts or diploma or foreign equivalency report and/or certification to your application. Required attachments submitted on or after February 29, 2008 do not need to be resubmitted.
Applicants must complete the work history section of the application. An attached resume is not required, but some departments have indicated that it is highly desirable.
