    Position Overview

San Diego HR Forum is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, and mission-driven Co-Director for Mentorship and Scholarship Programs to join our volunteer Board of Directors. This leadership role is instrumental in managing our annual Mentorship Program and facilitating our year-round Scholarship Program, both of which are designed to foster the professional development of HR professionals across the San Diego region.

In this role, you will work closely with your fellow Co-Director, the Board of Directors, committee members, volunteers, and external partners to ensure both programs are executed effectively, align with organizational goals, and provide exceptional value to participants. This is a unique opportunity to directly support the next generation of HR leaders and help shape impactful initiatives that promote learning, connection, and growth within the HR community.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Co-lead the Mentorship Program: recruit mentors and mentees, coordinate matches, manage communications, and ensure successful engagement throughout the program.

    • Support the Scholarship Program: coordinate application processes, review submissions, manage selection logistics, and facilitate the awarding of scholarships.

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with program participants, scholarship recipients, and key stakeholders, ensuring clear, timely, and positive communication.

    • Partner with the marketing team to promote both programs and drive participation across the SDHR Forum community.

    • Plan and host related events such as the Mentorship Kickoff, check-ins, orientations, and networking sessions.

    • Ensure both programs align with SDHR Forum’s mission of advancing HR leadership and development in the San Diego area.

    • Maintain accurate and organized records of mentorship pairings, scholarship applications, and awards.

    • Gather and assess participant feedback to evaluate program impact and identify opportunities for improvement.

    • Collaborate with the Board to manage program budgets and ensure financial sustainability.

    • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of the programs, ensuring accessibility and fairness.

    • Participate actively in Board meetings and contribute to the overall success of the organization.

    Qualifications

    • Proven experience in program management, event coordination, or HR-related initiatives (experience in nonprofit or professional development organizations a plus).

    • Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and support diverse audiences.

    • A collaborative, team-oriented mindset with the ability to also take initiative and work independently.

    • A genuine passion for mentorship, education, and community building within the HR profession.

    • Must be a current member of San Diego HR Forum (or willing to become one upon appointment).
