    Job Summary:

    PLNU is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented candidate to support and grow within the Office of Human Resources. You will be a great teammate who is willing to take direction but also shows initiative and can work independently. The role will contribute to the department by supporting Payroll and Human Resources related functions.

    This candidate will provide dependable and professional in-person support to our PLNU community of students, staff, and faculty.

    Salary:
    Pay range $24.41-29.30 per hour
    Internal Classification: Career Track - Support; Job Level - 4

    Job Description:

    What We're Looking For:

    • Commitment to deliver excellent customer service and foster positive employee relations.

    • Proficiency in Google Suite and Zoom (or similar platforms). Intermediate excel skills required. 

    • Ability to navigate an HRIS system, familiarity with Workday preferred.

    • General knowledge of federal and state leave regulations including PDL, FMLA, CFRA, and workers’ compensation.

    • Enthusiastic, passionate, and strong work ethic!

     

    What You'll Be Doing: 

    • Manages the administration of the university’s robust offering of benefits programs.

    • Serves as first point of contact to current and prospective employees on benefit eligibility and all plan coverage related inquires. 

    • Manages workers’ compensation process and assists with the campus safety program. 

    • Services as liaison with university insurance brokers and carriers to resolve all customer service and plan related issues. 

    • Manages all communication and processing of employee leaves of absence, coordinating with state disability programs as needed.

    • Conducts regular retirement plan contributions reconciliations, ensuring accurate funding.

    • Supports the open enrollment process including employee communications, annual benefits fair, and the enrollment process.

    • Processes monthly insurance invoices and reconciles carrier monthly statements to ensure billing accuracy.

     Qualifications:

    • 1-2 years of experience in benefits administration required. Related experience in a university setting preferred.

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or related field, preferred.

    • Ability to take initiative and manage multiple tasks and projects with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. 

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to prepare/convey clear and effective written reports, correspondence, and presentations. 

    • Knowledge and experience working with a diverse population is preferred

    • Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement. In addition, staff agree to live in agreement with PLNU’s Community Life Covenant

    Physical Requirements:

    • The work is primarily sedentary and may require sitting for extended periods of time. 

    • Use of computer equipment: computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor. 

    • Vision to read documents, email and other correspondence, and reports on paper and computer monitor. 

    • Ability to communicate effectively with others in person and by phone. 

    • Will also stand, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 10 lbs throughout the day, and up to 25 pounds as needed.
