Data privacy has an impact on most HR activities, including employee data, talent acquisition, performance, and an area becoming more and more important, the handling of client information by employees. This is especially true in today’s social media driven society and the technological advances in ecosystem of connectivity. As a human resources leaders it is vital that you implement systems and processes in your company to safeguard sensitive employee and client data, ensuring they comply with state, local and international data protection laws.

Speaker:

Bill McClelland is Vice President HRBP, Infrastructure for Meta, a $120B publicly held company, headquartered in Menlo Park, CA.  Meta is helping build a future where people have more ways to play and connect in the metaverse.  As part of Meta’s global HR organization, Bill is the Lead HR Business Partner for Infrastructure, the team responsible for developing and operating the hardware, network, software and data centers that all Meta services run on.  Bill and his team of HR professionals provide world-class strategic HR support to the leaders that mange the Infrastructure team, over 17K employees.

Bill spends his time interacting across the Infra leadership team as well as setting the strategy for human resource initiatives that enable the business to reach its goals.  Bill has extensive experience in business partner management, international HR, talent acquisition, transformational HR, M&A, change management, coaching and leading a global cross-functional, cross-cultural team. 

A graduate of Boston University with a degree in mechanical engineering, Bill began his career as a design engineer in the aerospace industry.  After transitioning from engineering to technical recruiting, he held director-level HR positions at Leap Wireless International and Anacomp and for 17 years, held executive level HR positions at Qualcomm before joining Meta in 2021.

Bill’s engineering background and broad base of business knowledge have enabled him to provide leadership, coaching and mentoring support to numerous professional and non-profit organizations.

He is a former executive committee member of The Conference Board’s Global HR Council II, a long-standing member of HRPS and SHRM, an alumni of LEAD San Diego, a former Community Service Award winner, and an active community servant.
