    Position Summary:

    The Director, HR Shared Services is a full-time position located in San Diego, CA and reporting to the Senior Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer.  This role is the core of HR, holding up the center of our enterprise function and integrating with all aspects of HR.    The Director, HR Shared Services will build a Shared Services model, leveraging technology such as ServiceNow and Workday.  They will lead and elevate the Employee Relations function and team, working to improve training and processes that will reduce HR Tickets.  This role will also help Bridgepoint Education achieve it’s new true north, as an Online Program Management (OPM) entity, and will lead the HR function, in close partnership with the VP, Talent, HR Ops, and Total Rewards to help shape the service level agreements towards our external clients, starting with Ashford University.

    Essential Job Duties:

    • ·         Lead the current Employee Relations function, which includes partnership with the Legal Department and execution of HR Tickets, Hotline calls, formal complaints and investigations.  You will look to leverage incoming technologies with ServiceNow and Workday to streamline current processes.  You will also work closely with the TM&D team to develop training to better equip our employees with HR knowledge.
    • ·         Represent employee relations/policy matters at the senior levels of the Company and designs and/or conducts training modules for sexual harassment, workplace threats, legislative awareness, ADA, and disciplinary actions.

                                                                                                                                                      


    • ·         Consults with Disability Management, Legal and leadership on FMLA/ADA and Return to Work issues.
    • ·         Conducts investigations of internal complaints highly sensitive in nature, including allegations of wrongdoing, violations of policy/ethics, and violations of Title IX and/or Title IV.
    • ·         Regularly monitors exit interview and attrition data to provide guidance to leadership that enables them to be responsible and informed of any trends or issues within their department; develops management training curriculum based on identified areas of need.
    • ·         Collaborate with Human Resources Business Partner, employees and managers to address root causes of HR issues, attempting to resolve issues at the earliest level.
    • ·         Participates in Company-wide programs and initiatives (eg. Workforce Planning, Organizational Changes, Reductions in Force) to promote and coordinate HR responsibilities.
    • ·         Conducts outreach measures with leadership and Employee Relations Leadership Coach in an effort to promote continuous strengths building and training for manager level employees (eg. conflict resolution, communication, etc.).
    • ·         Partners with Security and leadership to provide training on any workplace violence or business continuity concerns.
    • ·         Build a Shared Services function.  Fully integrate with the HRBP’s, and HR COE’s to create efficiencies in communication, training, and execution of HR items for our clients.  You will full integrate with all HR Teams, and work closely with BTS (IT), Finance, and other teams to streamline and accelerate our ability to serve the business.
    • ·         Project Manage activities and strategies to allow our HR function to shift into an OPM, serving multiple clients, but starting with Ashford University.  You will be a key line of communication from Bridgepoint Education HR to Ashford University staff, and future client’s staffs. 

    Minimum Requirements:

    ·         Excellent analytical, project management, problem resolution and customer service skills

    ·         Self-directed with a positive attitude and high energy level

    ·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    ·         Detail-oriented and accurate

    ·         Able to maintain an extremely high level of confidentiality

    ·         Ability to multi-task

    ·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel and PowerPoint

    ·         Experience with Workday and ServiceNow/ServicePoint a plus

    ·         Experience with multiple entities a plus

    • ·         5+ years of experience in leading a HR function
    • ·         5+ years of leading and developing other HR functions and personnel 

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • PHR/SPHR
    • PMP, Agile Scrum, Lean Six Sigma

    Education:

         Bachelor’s degree required, Masters Degree a plus.

    Education Requirements: 

    If a degree or education credit minimum is required for the position, all education must be conferred by a regionally accredited or approved nationally accredited institution. All candidates must provide proof of higher education (official transcripts) upon request.

    Physical Requirements:

    Physical Demands: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee requires dexterity in using telephone, computer keyboard, mouse and calculator while seated at a desk. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. The employee may frequently move to interact with fellow employees and/or clients. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    Communication Skills: While performing Duties of the job, the employee is required to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos. The employee requires the ability to write effective and detailed correspondence and to effectively present information both in one-on-one and small group situations.

    Mental Demands: While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to deal with stress associated with a fast-paced work environment and multiple priorities/tasks. The employee will be required to make judgment decisions and adapt to changing work situations, grasp and  apply new ideas, communicate with various personalities at all levels and have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.

    Work Environment: While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to work in an office environment, and the noise level is usually moderate to loud.
