San Diego Economic update and forecast 2022

A high-level overview of the San Diego economy and what is driving the San Diego economy at this point in time. Unemployment in the region, hardest-hit sectors, and low-income jobs and wages, the disparities and challenges through the pandemic and the public response to solving some of those challenges. Brief forecast of the economy in 2022.

Ray Major is Chief Data and Analytics Officer SANDAG

SANDAG The San Diego region's primary public planning, transportation, and research agency.

Chief Data and Analytics Officer responsible for leading SANDAG's data analytics strategy, driving empirically based solutions and transforming the agency into an analytics-driven organization. Responsible for the agency's open data, big data and data science initiatives.

His responsibilities include developing and translating economic and transportation data and trends into accurate and relevant insights. Dedicated to using data visualization and analyses to help inform decision makers. And Responsible for the regions’ economic prosperity strategy and for its short and long term economic forecasts.

Daniel Enemark, PhD is Senior Economist & Director of Research at the San Diego Workforce Partnership,

Where he helps design and evaluate programs that expand access to middle-class jobs. His focus is on understanding and counteracting the causes of economic inequality in San Diego County. Daniel’s 2019 study on racial inequity in San Diego County led to the Workforce Partnership’s first program focused on expanding access to economic opportunity among Black youth.
