    The Assistant Director of Recruitment and Compensation manages the staff recruitment and compensation programs for the University. The position serves as a primary recruiter for staff positions and collaborates with hiring managers and the HR team to implement and develop effective recruiting strategies for open positions. This position also evaluates staff positions, hires and changes for placement on the university compensation scale


    Time: Full time



    • Manages the staff recruitment process
    • Works with hiring managers on university recruitment procedures to ensure a collaborative and effective hiring process.  This includes sourcing options, system processes, employment based testing salary ranges and the offer process 
    • Functions as primary recruiter for designated staff postings
    • Posts open staff positions in requested sources
    • Performs initial screening of candidates which may include phone screening and informational interviews Manages skill based testing program and appointments for candidates
    • Manages the Predicative Index assessment program for candidates
    • Reviews, monitors and recommends recruitment sourcing and testing resources to enhance candidate selection process
    • Develops strategy and assessment tools to evaluate recruiting sources and opportunities to increase outreach efforts to attract highlight qualified diverse applicant pools
    • Creates recruitment pipelines of screened staff candidates not selected for future openings
    • Represents PLNU at local career fairs and job expos
    • Produces offer letters for top candidates
    • Manages background checks and pre-employment physicals for designated positions
    • Provides assistance for student employment with job postings, orientation, and hiring processes


    • Reviews position responsibilities and recommends placement within the University compensation grades for open staff positions accounting for external benchmarks and internal equity
    • Reviews approved requests for compensation changes due to reclassification or other position related changes.  
    • Works with AVP for HR on overall staff compensation analysis to assess equity and retention concerns in line with University compensation strategy
    • Produces position change letters for internal employee moves
    • Classifies new positions utilizing university compensation tools for grading all staff positions


    •  Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or related field, Master’s degree preferred
    • Three to four years of professional Human Resource experience with a focus on recruitment and compensation
    • Prior experience as a primary employment recruiter
    • Prior HR experience in higher education setting preferred
    • HR Professional Certification preferred
    • Proficiency with MS Office Suite including MS Excel and Word 
    • Prior experience with recruiting software platforms
    • Ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with campus community
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
    • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
    • Understanding of and commitment to the spiritual mission of Point Loma Nazarene University
    • Positive, friendly attitude and the ability to communicate effectively and exercise maturity, good judgment, and tact in working with co-workers, other members of the campus community, and those outside the university
